I tried some lead free in my 8x57 Sauer 202, but it didn't expand as well, and impact was significantly different for same weight (196 gr) rounds. Still experimenting with some factory rounds but have the 2 reloading books, dies, and equipment. Just need to figure out powder and pill.

Roe, when I gave you my hog data I didn't provide detailed info for each animal harvested, so I reevaluated and revised my data. This would improve your chart significantly.

Cow Elk - If I'm guessing, around 450-550 lbs? We carried out close to 275 lbs....
                ~125 yards
The round entered on the left behind the shoulder, between two ribs. It passed through both lungs and blasted through a rib on the opposite side and still exited the elk. Not a significant exit wound either. Bullet was still moving fast!
The elk ran maybe 25 yards before collapsing dead.

Chest area, traveled length of deer and exited in front of left hindquarter
Ran directly towards me ~80 yds and dropped
I intentionally waited for this and a couple of the other deer to position for less than optimal shot placement as we were trying to determine real world penetration on some of these factory pills as well as sneakys cut down pills.

Updated. A couple of new bullet weights included. I have not included post #50 yet (81 Police) as this one involves also extracting some data.

If we look at the green, I'm trying to illustrate what can be reasonably assumed to be a high 90 percentage of all hunting situations with a rifle, we find that the game (regardless of species) drops within "one line of sight" making for quick death and easy recovery.
