My 13 year old opted for the Grendel versus her .243. I don't think she wants to go back to the bolt gun. She killed two big Toms last weekend! JR turkey.jpgJR turkey2.jpg
Awesome. Although you'll probably have to change the wording in the thread title from "my" to "her". Then you can tell all your friends about the Grendel you used to have

Even after forty years of marriage, I continue to be amazed at the power and influence our moms, girlfriends, wives, and daughters have on us poor dumb brutes.
That said, she is making a wise choice.
Your only hope for keeping what is rapidly becoming "her" Grendel is for one in her favorite color camo to show up under the Christmas Tree.

I am already planning my next build! I will be building a new even better Grendel.
That's great. There are only 4 of us on our lease in TX, we can't bring guests. But the landowner lets my buddy bring his daughter and hunt with dad. She's taken one 5 years straight. She's still on the 243, need to let her try the Grendel!

So do y'all actually turkey hunt with shotguns and call them in by mouth out there (like we do in the south), or just snipe them from a distance?
"Sigh" still only shotguns here.....and the permit costs like Big Game.
I prefer it remain only shotguns in AL. Too many damn rednecks would instantly believe they're a turkey hunter because they shot one square in the chest from 200 yards with a Walmart special Remington 783 in 270...
