Upper Info Grendel Hunter Vs. Hardened Arms

I know this has been asked on here 100000000x but I am not happy with my 5.56 so swapping out my upper. Ive looked at Hardened Arms as well as Grendel Hunter. Really wanting to know the good, bad and ugly of each. My plans for this gun will be more for longer range target shooting, however I will be using it on some upcoming trips to texas for hogs. Not a lot of info on either as Ive searched the web and found very little videos or write ups. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Is this for a 556 or for a Grendel?
If 556, then first thing I would say is use the 223 Wylde chamber.

Regardless of the caliber, for longer range targets IMO you're much better off building your own upper. Unless you get a quality mfr like Larue or PF or similar, you're going to get compromises in off the shelf uppers -- In places where you didn't have any say-so so the what-if questions you might run into are too many and unknown.

Get quality parts like a BCM or Aero upper receiver, definitely a quality barrel, PF, Criterion, even a BA maybe, but certainly not the lower cost rack grade... and not a "no-name" from some vendor who doesn't really make barrels.
    Good quality trigger.
I use pretty much MI handguards, there are probably other good ones, but truthfully the HG doesn't contribute to the accurate shot as much as these other pieces.
Make sure it is a Saami Grendel spec, some mfrs do the LBC-264 style, they can be ok but I don't recommend them, strict Saami guy here for the Grr. And chambered for the 0.136" bolt face too. Why do I say these things? I assume nothing when talking to a guy about what to get/build.
And top it off with a good mount and good scope. These are the essential pieces/parts for such a goal.

Listen to the longer range shooters on here, like Lrrpf52, Lr1955, Klem, and a few others I can't think of... hopefully they'll chime in as well.
But I'd definitely say build your own, take your time. It's not that hard...
You want a quality longer range pipe, go ahead and do it well the first time...

Ive thought about attempting to build my own, however I won't lie I am clueless when it comes to it all. Ask me to build you a house and I can do that. Is there anyone who builds custom uppers? Long story short, needed for a hog hunt and I want precision accuracy to 600-700 yds

Like grayfox said build your own it's easy and will save you money because you will be getting only the parts you want to use.

Barrel- sammi grendel with the mrk136 bolt
Handguard- get one that is truly index free( meaning the gas tube doesn't go throw a hole in the barrel nut)
Upper-if you want to improve your long range aka past 400 yards get a heavy walled upper and lapp the recover face and bed the barrel into it.
Barrel length- depending on how high you live in elevation a 18 inch will work but a 20 is better for reaching 1000 yards.
Scope and mount- get plenty of adjustment 20 power or more and use a strong mount not some light weight flimsy thing.

Don't know what kind of trigger you have but it is probably best to upgrade it.

Also the stock I always sujest a fixed stock, less movement and typically a better cheek weld, plus they add weight to the rifle and that helps steady the rifle and keep sight picture.

So many things to do that will make a fine long range grendel rifle search the fourm for a bit.

Always remember accuracy comes from the barrel, scope and mount, trigger the rest is just holding it together, you the shooter and the ammo is the rest of the puzzle for groups and hitting at long range aka more then 400 yards.

There are plenty of custom shops that will build you a upper.

But to be honest it's very very simple.

Never heard of it before. Doesn't mean it's a bad trigger jyst never heard of it.

Watch a few YouTube videos and Google this fourm and others for a week or two also try googling Robert whittneys guide to ar accuracy, it real is very simple to build a ar grendel upper and with a few accuracy tweaks you can build it the way you want it and it will shot great.

Or maybe a member here would build it up for you from parts you buy yourself.

JA, well, look at Larue, they will build that upper for you.... this apparently is a limited time offer.

I don't think you beat this out the door... even comes with a real nice trigger.

this would be an 18" which will get you nicely out to your 600-700 yds...

Also look at the Grendel handbooks, vol 1 and 2, in the Industry partner section, AR15 Build Box.
This has tons of info helpful to the Grendel shooter, nowhere else is this much info in one place...
