Took an 80 lb button buck and a 140 lb 8 point this weekend with my Grendel. Way smaller than what I normally shoot, but needed meat for the freezer.
Button buck was 75 yards perfectly broad side. Hit exactly where I was aiming. Grazed the top rear of the heart and took out both lungs with out hitting either leg. Perfect. Unfortunately, hit a rib on entry and blew bone graft back through the diaphragm into the liver. Bowel fluid ruined one side of the ribs and one leg 😔.
Buck was bedded down at 75 yards. Neck shot was on the money.
Both were taken with CBB 105 gr MKZ over 28.5 gr of N530. Really liking this combo for deer! I'd like to do a high shoulder shot on a nice doe to check penetration, but it's looking good so far 🙂
