    CBC Industies cy6 6.5 grendel

Recently purchased my upper from CBC and really like it. Just need to shoot it. my reason for the thread here is to ask if anyone has this upper they dub the CY6? Curious as to how well it performs. I do not handload but am considering it. I will be using Hornady 123 gr. SST factory ammo for the time being. Kind of hard to find ammo at a fair price that I would use for whitetail hunting. I shopped at vizardsgunsandammo.com and really impressed with the shipping as well as the ammo price. Back on tangent , I purchased the Bushnell AR optic line 4.5-18x40mm to top the upper off. Great clarity, now it is on the upper I need to zero and go shoot coyotes. I plan to zero at 200 yrds as I have been doing for years. Just wondering if anyone has this same CBC industries upper and how they rate the performance in shooting accuracy. What would be the best ammunition to shoot deer with other than the SST that is not hard to find on the shelf of a vendor.

Don't throw in the towel with the rifle if it does not shoot very well with Hornady 123 SST. I have two ARs, one with a BCA and the other with a Oden Works barrel and neither will shoot the Hornady 123 SST bullet in factory or numerous handload combinations consistently under 1 1/2". Both will shoot hand loaded 120 Sierra PH and Speer Gold Dot sub MOA. There is other factory ammo that will do great. Federal 120 gr Fusion, Nosler 129 gr. long range accubond and 120 gr Ballistic Tip, Alexander Arms 129 Hornady SST and 120 Nosler Ballistic Tip. Midway USA has all of these that they say is IN STOCK.

Thanks 1shot. Ill check again on midway for those. I do use the fed fusion 62 gr in my 223/5.56AR on deer. Love the outcome. I never had much faith with the SST..... I use the 168 gr Amax in my 308 with DRT performance..... I really would lime to get the fusion or nosler accubond for my grendel. Fingers and every crossable thing is crossed for performance.

123 g SST and 120 Federal Fusion are both legit for hunting deer.
CBC is a budget AR manufacturer. I will put them in the category of Anderson. I would say it’s around an MOA shooter. For hunting out to 300 or so yards,it will be more than adequate.I have a CBC 300 BO upper.Mounted a 1-6 strike Eagle on it.I’ve taken dozens of Florida hogs with it.

I?ve had the CY6 upper for about 6 months now.I had some teething problems with the gas system as the gas port was undersized but once I got it adjusted the upper ran fine. It will easily shoot sub- MOA groups at 100 yards with Hornady 123 gr ELD ammo. I?ve haven?t tried a lot of different factory loads as I?m working up both hunting and target handloads. I?m taking the Grendel on an upcoming boar hunt in South Carolina during the second week of March.
I?ve had very good success with a 300 BO upper I purchased from CBC Industries a few years ago so I?m looking forward to trying the Grendel upper on boar.
