    Grendel season report

Wrapped up deer season in Texas on our ranch this last weekend. Took 7 deer with Grendel.

Deer #1. 95 pound odd looking spike buck. Fusion at 45 yards. 18 inch palmetto build. Double lung shot. Buck dropped dead.

Deer #2. 180 lb 8 point. 50 yards with fusion. Buck ran 40 yards after double lung shot. Same 18 inch palmetto build.

Deer #3. 75 pound doe. 12.5 inch pistol build. Spine shot with sst. Drt

Deer #4. 123lb doe. 60 yards with 12.5 inch pistol. Sst. Drt. Impressive wound thru lungs.

Deer 5. 12.5 inch pistol 90 yards with sst double lung shot. Drt. Doe was 80lbs

Deer 6. 129lb 6 pnt non typical. 20 inch palmetto build. Fusion at 60 yards. Buck ran 20 yards. Fusion opened nicely. 20 inch palmetto build

Deer 7. 90lb doe. 60 yard shot with sst. Low shoulder shot. Broke both shoulders. Drt. 12.5 inch pistol.

Shot three additional deer with 308. Same ranges same results. Wound channels slightly wider.

Conclusion Grendel is completely sufficient for Texas whitetails. We cannot tell the killing difference between deer shot with 12.5 inch pistol or full rifle or 308 for that matter.

Thanks for the report. I normally hunt with an 18 inch upper. Attempted to hunt with a can on the end and it was too front end heavy for good balance. Plan on doing a 12.5 inch upper build for next season so I can comfortable hunt with a can. A large deer in TN were I hunt is 140 field dressed. Doubt shots within 200 yards will be a problem.

I am comfortable that deer shot under 100 yards with a 12.5 inch Grendel are humanly dispatched after this season.

Wish I could find some in stock to test them out next season.

I have been really happy with the sst and fusions from all barrel lengths. All pass thrus with large exit wounds.

Last weekend I "Grendelized" four deers with100grain ttsx bullets.

Same places with dog driving and about tree minutes.
First shoot doe about 100m running, hit little back and stomach. Going about 30meters.
Second calf after that, about 70meters, in stay and in head. ( only what I see that's )
Third doe about 200meters in stay, shoulders back and under backbone, lung shots. Running very long jumping about 80meters. Bleeding outside minimal some drops but not all jump. Tracking easy, we have here about feet snow. Inside had lot off bleeding.

Sunday little buck for running. Distance about 12meters and hit shoulder and broken also little backbone, fall down about three meters.

Yes we have Finland own whitetails and this is unusual in Europe. Starts coming American Finn peoples gift from Minnesota 1934. Now we shooting about 100 000 deer to season. I living good population areas and I have 13 personal deerlicence. One licence you can shoot two calf, also does must to be hunt.

Sounds like fun. I enjoy hunting deer with hounds as well.
