    CZ gets another one

The little CZ Grendel keeps getting it done with Nosler ABLR bullets. This one stuck his dead out in the open then turned back in the thicket. A few grunts and he came through brush got a clear high shoulder shot at 40 yards through a 5 inch oy so hole without twigs so dropped him there. No bullet recovery, through both shoulders, clipped bottom of back entrance 3/4 inch, exit twice that. Love no tracking.

Looking at building a Bolt Action Grendel search is what lead me to this site. Built this one up the year before Howa and CZ finally got off their butts and started chambering for the Grendel. 22 inch Obermeyer 1:8.4 twist barrel, turned down to fit stock after milling out the barrel channel to get rid of the notches for the rear sight on their 7.62X39 carbine, pilar and glass bedded the action. As it sits there 7.2 lbs and best balanced rifle I own. With what it really likes load wise she shoots half MOA.

kmon, how much meat did you lose with that shot placement? I am thinking about where I want to make shot in the future and there is a lot to be said for the high shoulder.

Depends on exact placement. But guessing 3 or 4lbs average loss. Least loss is head shot, next just through ribs in and out. I do high shoulfer when i want it to drop right there. Some places recovery could be an issue i choose it.

Yeah. I generally haven't had to worry about recovery in the past, but I may be looking at a few spots where a drop on the spot would be important.

Nosler Accubond Long Range. It works great close or far.

Nice buck. That is a sweet rig you have there.
What overall COAL can you set with that barrel?

2.285 is the longest I can load and it function in the mag and function reliably. Depending on the bullet profile that could be in the lands of the compound throat. I could do a mag modification and get a little more COAL but happy with that and results I get now. If I want higher velocities from a 6.5 there is a 6.554, 6.5-284 and 264 Win Mag in the safe.
