Now that Remington has given us a robust AR-10 Bolt-Barrel Extension, in a lightweight AR-15 platform (Thank you, Remington) --- and we accept the single-stack magazine, as a trade-off --- how does a 6.5mm-30AR compare to a 6.5mm-270AR SPR?

That 270AR is going to be hard to beat with that high BC 150gr bullet. If woohoo gets his 2550fps from it likes hes predicting.

          XcountryRider,

          Dialing-in the 270AR SPR's expected 2550 fps Muzzle Velocity, with the Nosler 150-grain .277" diameter LR Accubond projectile (BC - 0.625), and using the 500-yard retained Velocity/Energy values, 1905 fps/1209 ft-lbs, as a parameter, I compared the 6.5mm 140-grain JLK VLD projectile (BC - 0.630) and the 6.5mm 144-grain Lapua Scenar projectile (BC - 0.636), at 500 yards.

Dialing-in 2625 fps Muzzle Velocity for the 140-grain JLK VLD resulted in 500-yard retained Velocity/Energy values of 1972 fps/1209 ft-lbs, while dialing-in 2585 fps Muzzle Velocity for the 144-grain Lapua Scenar resulted in 500-yard retained Velocity/Energy values of 1944 fps/1208 ft-lbs.

It will be interesting to see what velocities a 6.5mm-30AR and a 6.5mm-270AR SPR will produce!

Ingenuity: what would our sport-shooting world be without it?

Which would do better with the copper bullets? They will be a cali requirement in a few years.

Pioneering the world's most effective all-copper hunting bullet. For over 30 years, we've been engineering the most advanced hunting bullets, trusted by the world's best hunters and shooters.
