Saturday evening I was hunting in a tower stand on the north side of the Colorado river. About 300 yards down I see a nice size pig emerge from the salt cedars on the south bank. He was near the water's edge for only 5 seconds before disappearing back into some brush. He seemed to be heading my direction so I watched intently. After a couple minutes he emerged approx. 100 yards out and in a full trot. He kept paralleling the river but paused just in front of the stand giving me a shot at 75 yards. Positioned about 40 feet above him, I leveled the rifle just as he stopped and fired. The shot felt hurried. He was slightly quartering and the bullet entered high and back on the facing shoulder, but exited square and low on the off shoulder. He buckled and ran 20 or so yards leaving a distinct blood trail. I saw him go down and quickly climbed out of the stand and made my way down & crossed the river. I guessed he might weigh around 180-200, but was shocked when I walked up on this brute. We had 2 corn feeders w/ trail cams running in this area since January and never once saw this particular pig on camera.
Chest girth = 50" (300lbs), I measured him twice to be sure.
Total length from snout to base of tail = 62"
Rifle used: JP Enterpise 6.5 Grendel, 120gr Barnes TSX. As mentioned before the bullet made a complete pass through.
