I will NOT make any claim as to how well I shoot. Hell, in my case a 100 round drum may not be enough!!! Even if I had the time to pull the trigger that many times

I am now pro staff for Third Coast Thermal that sells thermal gear (www.thirdcoastthermal.com) and so that is where I would tell you to buy stuff, LOL (yes, that was a biased opinion!). You can buy thermal weapon sights from $2500 and up to $10K. The best value for the money, which I don't happen to own, is a Pulsar Apex XD50a that runs a bit under $3500 IIRC. It is enough scope for the needs of most hunters and has a lot of firmware options to make it suitable to individual tastes. I actually got to play with the first prototype of the unit when it came in the US when I was a part of Pulsar's Pro Staff. People are hunting coyotes with them out well beyond 150 yards and hogs even farther. As with most thermal gear right now, it will handle recoil up to a .308. If I was going to buy my first new thermal scope, today, this is what I would buy.
Thermal is an unique and VERY USEFUL option for hunting. Only rarely do I bother with daylight optics and hunting anymore.Kill a hog. Save the planet.

I have been shopping for a new NV/ thermal toy for awile now, and can't decide between the two.. for open field coyote night calling and baiting, would armasight clip on Gen2 HD be enough? Should I save up the extra coin and roll Gen3 or thermal? I would really really like to be able to reach out to 2-300 yards reliably.
