Or if the Serbs had fully adopted the Grendel.

The Grendel in an SBR is starting to look like the thing to beat.

Yep, but let’s say the word “AR pistol” in place of SBR for us lowly citizens. They do give up some distance, but man are they way more handy when working around the interior of vehicles and doorways, etc. Also, easier to conceal, carry and store. Unless you’re pushing 500 yards plus, I don’t see much distinct difference between a 12” barrel and an 18” barrel in 6.5g. And we can travel across state lines without the BATFE’s blessings.

You will feel that 150 fps drop from an 18" if you are used to working the longer ranges. (500+).

I keep thinking about it, but then someone else will have to get adopted. Already putting up Sandy and Bart. Might have to change over my 16 middy 5.56. and get another lower.

          Good numbers.... thanks for sharing.

I got my 12" PSA upper back from getting the chamber polished, hopefully will take it out again tomorrow at 300-400 yards.

I added more distance for both. Notice how the advantage increases until the SBR Grendel has about the same speed and energy at 900yds as the AKM has at 500yds.

Awesome! Does anyone have a similar comparison for an 18" or 20" Grendel? And also numbers for the .223 or 5.56 in whatever grain bullet? (or links)

                  I'm planning on doing a full-length 5.56 M16A2 comparison, but all of my 5.56 AR15s are shorter than 20".

I also need to do a graphic showing a 3D metric of 6.5 Grendel next to .308 Winchester, same barrel lengths, with ballistic trajectories and wind deflection.

                    Nice infographic.

I'll be taking my 12.5" Grendel to 720yds in January just to mess with a buddy who doesn't understand ballistic trajectory math and thinks it isn't possible.
