13yr old grandson Indigo shooting 600yds with my 18" build at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton New Mexico. His first time to shoot an AR platform rifle and first time at distance with it. He hit the 600yd gong on his 3rd shot at it using 100gr Wolf steel

I've thought about starting a thread about youth AR builds. What worked and what didn't Indigo? What might have made the rifle better for him?

While Grendel recoil is minimal, the Sig Whisky scope is pretty long and he got hit on the eyebrow by the ocular, so going with a shorter length tube optic for him would be good.
And the trigger. It is a stock DPMS Oracle lower. Stock trigger that has had a GI trigger job, but it is still fairly stiff.
