From one new member to another, welcome 808hoghunter. I used a Vltor upper on my new build as well. I like 'em.

Can't tell on my phone. Did you go with FA or no?

Will do .... gonna need to change rail as gas block is super close to touching... even after grinding down new gas block and rail..

Nice rifle. Now load you up some 120 Speer Gold Dots and you will not be sorry when you start shooting game with it.

When I built my AR with 18" Oden Works barrel with mid-length gas I used a STNGR (forgot which one) handguard and my gas block just barely touched. I have a Dremel tool with a flex wand extension that I could get inside the hand guard after removed off the rifle and reach where needed to be ground away. Using the same handguard with same Oden style barrel in 223 I had the same problem.

Good start. Do yourself a favor and shoot some rapid 10 shot groups. That will tell you more than anything else what your load is going to do in real conditions. Rapid because it's as good as anything else at simulating stress from excitement, and it'll let you know what to expect as far as kill zone radius in the field, especially for any necessary follow ups. If I'm under 5 inches at 200, I load 50 and quit my development. That's deadly at any range, considering you'll be much more careful for your actual shots.
