First 6.5 AR Build - Thank You!

I want to thank you all for the recommendations on the barrel. It kills me that I haven't shot it yet, but soon.

This site is a fantastic resource and I've benefitted greatly. Much obliged.

I didnt realize this was your barrel that we made LOL! When I saw the fluting I was like that looks like our fluting and then I figured it out. Let me know how it shoots for you!

Yes, sir! Barrel looks great! I'm excited to try it out. Once I can find some decently priced quality ammo. Anything you'd recommend? Something in the 120-123 grain territory? I plan to reload for best results, but do you recommend any particularly well performing good off the shelf options?

          Thank you!

Buy ammo from the same people that built your barrel. I don't think you can find a much better combination...

            You 3 gun this?

Most companies do not ship ammo to Massachusetts. It's not a competition gun, no.

I looked into the MA scheme and it's very similar to California's. You might find some reprieve by calling local FFLs as you can have ammo shipped there. Usually they charge a transfer fee, which is why you call around. It's so bad here, some offer monthly "club" rates where the transfer fee is waived for 30 days if you pay XX dollars up front.

It's a crummy situation, the tides of change are coming though.

Legally, one doesn't need to send ammo to an FFL. Retailers could get a copy of my license to carry and legally ship it to me. This is why I'm able to get ammo from Midway, Target Sports USA, Midsouth Shooter's Supply, etc. However, most companies either don't want to "risk" it or don't have the desire to keep track of licenses. Local FFLs aren't keen on receiving ammo, either. They'd rather sell it to you. So, even if they will do it, you're going to pay a transfer fee. With today's prices, that's suboptimal.

That's why I asked about common, off the shelf selections. Something I can find at Target Sports USA, Midway, etc.

                  Change can't come soon enough.

Is this something you can address?
