    Anti-Rotation Tabs Necessary?

What is the horde's thought on anti-rotation tabs on a handguard? Some say that they're for handguard alignment only and others say what the name implies - anti-rotation of the handguard if sufficiently stressed, or both. I'm looking at a Foxtrot-Mike 10.5" handrail that doesn't have them but it does have 8 screws to secure the handguard to the barrel nut. The barrel nut is timed only for screws fitment through the handguard, not for gas tube alignment/fitment.

    Thanks, Hans

You would have to exceed the torque applied to the barrel nut for that design to rotate. The tabs are more for designs that just clamp over the nut.
