    Grendel bolt pin question

Hello, on my Grendel bolt, the bolt pin moves to the left or right after firing. It has no effect on my shooting and I fix it every time I clean the gun. I think the the spring inside the assembly is weak and this is why it is not holding in place. My question would be, can I replace the spring and maybe pin with one from a 223 bolt which I have never used. If I remember this correct, only the bolt face is different. Right?

    Thank you for your input!

Lexx If it is the extractor pin you are talking about it is a captured pin so it can't go anywhere. The spring is there to put pressure on the case rim for extraction.

I also don't know what was meant by bolt pin. If it's the extractor pin, then it is as rasp65 said, captive by the bolt bore in the carrier. It isn't going anywhere.

If you look at the picture, the little pin below the bolt is what I am talking about. It doesn't stay centered. Doesn't it rub the bolt carrier inside if not centered?

He's is talking about the pin the extractor pivots on. I've had bolts that did the same thing, it's never caused me a problem, it can't fall out. At least mine never has.

Inside of the carrier is chrome lined, or some other hard plating that will win the war against the pin. The extractor pin is supposed to be made from a certain tool steel, since it takes a lot of force, but it won't beat the interior coating of the carrier.
