    My 6mm ARC Build

Finally got everything put together and stopped by the range. I have to work tonight so time was limited. I'm quite pleased as all rounds functioned 100% with great extraction, ejection, and feeding using the Hornady 108gr ELD Match.

I paid $30 a box and when I went back it's now $50, screw that. I'll wait it out for brass.

The rifle as completed... Anderson upper, Brownell's BCG, Ballistic Advantage barrel, YHM rail, YHM gas block, YHM QD brake, and YHM LT .30 suppressor. I have a Velocity 3-pound trigger and Vortex Viper PST in a Leupold mount.

    The rifle...

After getting the scope dialed in with about four rounds, I fired this group UNSUPPRESSED...

Tweaked the scope, added the suppressor, and fired this group...

All in all I'm pleased at the initial outing but of course those are only three round groups. But I'm thankful the rifle functions 100% suppressed and unsuppressed right from the start. With ammo being scarce the last thing I needed was problems. I think the coyotes and hogs are in for a rude awakening. Do I expect this rifle to be better than other chamberings? No, I do not. But I like it so far... the true test will be on yotes, hogs, and deer.

Very nice! You may want to make a link of your post in the 6mm ARC site as well. https://6mmarc.com/

ASC makes 6mm ARC magazines with red followers.

They allow the cartridge to sit higher than the 6.5G magazines (blue follower).

              Good build.

In your photo of the 6ARC magazines, it's interesting to see they scalloped the front of the 6ARC magazine while leaving the 65G unaltered.

About those 6mm ARC mags, anyone tested them in the 6.5 Grendel to see if they work/feed better? I've had my share of trouble with some Grendel mags, especially on the last cartridge nose diving.

I just had a look at the ASC website. The Grendel mags seem to have the same, scalloped front as the 6ARC mags. I wonder when that changed. Also, I can't visually see a difference in the follower between the two other than color. The description makes no mention of an improved follower design. I also watched their two and a half minute video entitled "ASC 15 Round 6mm Asc Magazine Demo". It talks about the rifle and cartridge but barely mentions the magazine.

Edit: I should add they're selling Grendel mags at discounted prices in 5 packs. It's almost like they're trying to get rid of old stock...

This post prompted me to take a look at my Grendel & ARC mags. Looking at an ARC mag compared to a Grendel mag it does appear the ARC round sits higher when looking from the front. It's an optical illusion due to the scalloped front end. When you look at the two from the rear, they look to be the same height.

Looking at only my Grendel mags: My ASC 25 round & 10 round mags have no scallop; my C-Product 17 rounders are scalloped similar to the ARC mags; my C-Product Duramag 25 rounders have a scallop but it's shallower than the ARC mag scallop.

I have never had an ASC 6.5 Grendel mag actually function with 6.5 Grendel without modification. 10, 15 and 25 rounders. They work great with 243 LBC though! Below is one of my 15s with 6.5 in it.

                        Jama jama ding dong.

Maybe the ARC mags will work with 6.5G if they sit higher......

Note I'm not an ASC hater. Use both 10 & 20 round .223 mags since they give my 6x45 a 2.31+ COAL. And they aren't scalloped, but feed a 6mm bullet just fine. And the orange follower makes them real easy to find in my big box o' mags.
