I have both the AFG and the magpul MVG (mlok or MOE). After several years I have gone back to the VFG style, if that tells you anything.
The advantage to the MVG style is no rail is needed to mount to MLOK rails or MOE handguards, and is MUCH lighter/less weight.
The AFG requires a rail and by itself is MUCH heavier and bulkier.
The VFG also doubles as a handstop for thumb over bore techniques and can be used to lean against obstacles or hook on a tree branch. IMHO the VFG wins, less is more.
