Great scopes. And customer service is top notch. My Creedmoor fell off the bench, took a direct hit on the windage turret, knocked it sideways. Sent it back to Vortex, had it back within two weeks, good as new.

Vortex have a reputation for being excellent value for money on this forum. Not the best glass or bench rest repeatability but good enough for AR's and hunting rigs. The difference between good and best across scopes is not a lot and starts to get arguable. Their range is built in three different countries; Japan, China and the Philippines. The cheapest (Crossfire), comes from China and their most expensive, Japan.

I have a PST on a 22LR. I wouldn't buy one for a larger calibre but that is just me.

            I love my 3-15x44 gen II. For the money it's a no-brainer.

Currently looking at the Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 myself to put on top of my gas pumper 6.5,

will serve my needs well of slinging copper pills at steel plates.. the gun and scope will be far more capable than the owner. Actually the scope will cost more than the rest of the gun.

I've got the 3x15 Gen II and love it for all my accuracy /paper punching/long range shooting. That said it's much to jumpy cheek weld wise for hunting imo but I'm also 78 and these eyes have seen their better days.

I just recently put a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44 in a Larue LT-204 on my 12" Grendel upper and I'm very happy with it. The only drawback is that at low magnification the reticle is super thin and difficult to read, but that's not something that bothers me. For the price, IMO, it is a great value.

That is the one thing I do not lie about FFP scopes. Low magnification the crosshairs are too small and high power they get thick but mostly it is the not seeing at low power.

FFP is better for ranging at any magnification, but the reticle does get larger at higher magnification. I do not care for this feature, and at longer range I have more time to use my rangefinder, or I use my rangefinder to range points in my field of fire ahead of time. This is hunting from a tree stand or ground blind.

This can be somewhat compensated for by reticle design and some folks like this feature for low light/high magnification.

Personally, I am not taking a hunting shot where I need high magnification in low light conditions.

This is not taking into account illuminated reticles.

I am not a big fan of FFP, considering my limited experience with them.

I have a couple of Vortex DBk T-4-16 scopes and am getting used to the ffp. for the $$ they seem pretty good. the small reticle at low powers doesn't bother me too much b/c even at 25 yds I'll probably have it at 6x, which I can see a zero well enough there anyway...
So, it doesn't have the Illum reticle, but still seems like a good deal.

I have a Gen 1 Viper PST on a 308AR, I love them. If I needed an optic, I'd buy the Gen 2 so quickly it'd make your head spin.
