    Mags for new Grendel owner

Now I know that this subject has been beat to death already. However, manufacturers do change and what may have been good or terrible 3 years ago...could be completely different today.

I'm looking for 15-17 round mags for my SPR type Grendel. I just got my first 17-rd E-Lander mag in. Very glossy finish. Looks well built though. My rifle should be complete next week. Any others I should consider? Cost is not a factor.

    I use E-Landers and CPD’s.........both work great.

Before I built my 16 inch back up on a LWRC SIX8 reciver set to use the six8 pmags. CPD grendel mags were the best of the lot as far as metal grendel mags go, for me.

I had tryed them all ASC,Elander older Cproducts. CPD grendel mags were the best metal grendel mag for me. Good enough that when I ordered a new 12.5 barrel from Mark at PF yesterday to build anouther grendel pistol. I ordered CPD 10 round and 26 round mags from joebobs website right after that.

I use CPDs. I find the curvature is correct for the Grendel taper. My E-Landers work pretty well after break in but I don't trust them as much.

Sounds like I’ll order a 10-rd CPD to try as well. They seem to be cheaper than E-Lander too.

I purchased 5 ASC 10 rd mags when I first got into the 6.5 Grendel ,around 2 years now.Anyway,I got a deal from primary arms some months back.Ten - 10rd 6.5 Grendel ASC mags for around $120 delivered.I split w/a friend(5 ea). These mags are great. No problem once so ever. The original 5 are still working great.

In the 15-17 rnd range it’s the elander 17s or ASC 15s, both work well for me with brass & steel case in two different ARs and my bolt action Ruger.
CPD used to tease a 15 round mag years ago but stopped when they rebranded their AR mags as Duramag.
Personally I prefer the heavier steel & stronger springs of the elanders but my RAP bolt action ran better with ASCs than anything else til I worked it over so it’s really a question of what your rifle prefers.
In 7.62x39 & 5.45x39 in ARs I’ve had best results with CPDs.
