    Bobro or Larue LT104

    Heeeeeeeeeeeelp!

Have someone that offered me a smoking deal on a LaRue LT104 (I have the 204 now & am familiar with Larue), then he goes & mentions that he also has a Bobro 30mm extended mount with single lever (qd). He's asking $50 more for the Bobro but it still a great deal based on what I've researched so far. I've heard a LOT of great things about the Bobro mounts, but can't exactly run down to the local gun store & check them out since no one around here carries them. I hear the Bobro QD mounting system blows LaRue out of the water on that & the clamping area of their mounts.

Since he went & made things hard for me & I can't get both figured I'd ask the Hoarde group their thoughts on this one.

if they're such good deals... are you sure you can't swing both then sell whichever you don't like?

Personally I think they cost too much. I've used several brands and different styles that are all less expensive. They all hold zero. The ones that were designed to return to zero do.

ggg offers a bolt on and a quick detach. I use their quick detach.. it's not much less than larue but if you qualify for their military/le discount it's noticeable https://www.gggaz.com/flt-scope-mount.html

The vortex bolt on is a solid offering if you don't need a qd that returns to zero.

I have also had good luck with the Burris PEPR on several different guns, b/t myself and coworkers. It has returned to zero everytime.

The key with any of the qd return to zero mounts is to make sure you are pushing the whole assembly towards the muzzle, against the recoil lug, when you lock it down.

He's asking $100 for the Larue & $150 for the Bobro.. I don't wanna jack with trying to sell the "other one", to much of a "hot & cold area" which is also why he's had them for a while. Plus admittedly, the exhaust manifold on my Jeep has started the famous 4.0 cracking & I need to get a replacement header coming for it too.

I'm not knocking other mounts & do "get" the RTZ thing with most. If I wasn't planning on swapping my thermal between rifles I wouldn't even worry about a QD setup to be honest.

well shit for that price that's a good deal..

Having had the 4.0 manifold on my XJ that cracked.. ignore it.. it'll sound like marbles until it warms up then you're fine ;-)

Have both mounts. Bobro was independely tested against LaRue for return to zero and beat LaRue.

Now with that said, the Bobro I have is rock solid but it has a lot of small parts. I have 7 LaRue's and 1 Bobro. Which do you think I prefer?

Appreciate the thoughts/feedback y'all, definitely echos the research I've done so far.

As far as the exhaust leak.. If it wasn't for the "come & go" with heat cycles & the Jeep is what I use for hog hunting I might agree with ya. Got a new in box Banks header on the way that I got for a song & dance though. Figure it's a good time to "rework" the exhaust a bit too

Well, he took almost a week to get back to me & in that gap he'd sold the Larue (1" rings though) so I did the Bobro. I received it Tuesday & gotta say it's a heck of a mount. I also have a Larue & will keep the Leupold on it with my 556 most likely.

My plan is to use the Bobro to mount a Thermion that is supposed to be here by Sat (not holding my breath though lol)

I've had a Larue mount for a while now & have been pretty dang happy with it, but the mounting system on the Bobro just got my curiosity. I will say that the Bobro is a slick mount! Down side, it won't work with a Pulsar Thermion; there's a small "belly" on the bottom of the Thermion housing that hits the mount & won't let the scope set in the cradle properly. Luckily I'd ordered a set of 30mm rings for my Larue "just in case" which saved the day for sure.

Now to decide if I want to find a use for the Bobro or sell it :/

This pretty much sums up the opinion I was trying to convey much better than I ever could get typed out. Same, same, same. Good to know there are other great minds out there.
