    Thermion or Thor

New Grendel needs a thermal scope. Threads like these always pop up from newbies like me, and many here are probably very tired of chiming in on a subject like this. Nevertheless, please comment if you have experience with these scopes.

From my own review, the Thermion battery does not last long. The Thor reportedly has poor customer service. And, apparently, I can't trust any video I see of night hunting because the videos have allegedly been enhanced to show better video.

Please let me know your preferences between these two, and any other suggestions you may have. $4k is stretching it. Too bad thermal scope prices aren't dropping at the same rate that flat screens did.

Thermion all day long. ATN is the Lexmark printer of the scope world. Cheaply made, and when you have a problem after the warranty has expired they want to charge you a fortune to fix it. Buy once, cry once.

Here's a video from a good authority on the ATN scopes.

Here is a link to a google custom search in case no one quickly replies.

HuntTXhogs has been testing a Bering Optics thermal scope and has posted a couple of good videos. Double Naught Spy has many hunting videos and is a wealth of knowledge.

I have learned the hard way, always pulsar over ATN. I have wasted money on two ATN thermals. And never have been let down by my pulsars. I think for the money pulsar is hard to beat as thermals go. I even have a pulsar I/R scope and it is also a great buy for the money. Just my two cents. Well actually near 15k

Not that I can actually get my hands on anything. Everything seems to be on backorder or unavailable. I have not looked hard yet, however.

I have an old Zeus and a new IR Hunter.. I wouldn't buy an ATN, go with the Thermion. Get an external battery kit and you won't have any issues with battery life. Toss in a solar battery pack and you can run for a long time without going into town to buy CR123s.

I've been very happy with my thor.
ATN has worked hard to improve their cs in the past year.

Any of you North Texas guys know of a brick and mortar in the area that carries Pulsar?

Just curious, how would you know this?

Yes, but actually being in stock on the shelves is another matter.

In the interim, I bought a Vortex Viper PST gen2 3x15. I want to go shoot my Grendel without waiting on a thermal.
