  • A Good Quality Bi-Pod

Questions about a good Bi-Pod? What brand should I buy? Prices are all over the place, why? What about mounting? Anyone of the Horde have one for sale?

I've never had a Bi-Pod and considering a bench model for my Grendel. Don't want to buy one and find out afterwards I should've gotten something different. Any suggestion or advise would be appreciated.

From the Bench or prone, there is nothing as stable as the Sinclair F Class bipod. but its not exactly highly mobile.

I have the 1st generation, and its a great bipod.

For something less bulky, the Sinclair Tactical is a great bipod with tons of adjustability and height change available.

The Harris bipods are stable, but make sure you get them with the lockable cant lever.

Will you be mounting it on a ff tube? I have a couple and perfer this one for the bench

It mounts to a sling swivel stud on the hand guard.
Harris makes a pretty decent bi-pod for the $. You can save ~$20 with a Harris knock off but from what I hear they don’t hold up as well as a Harris. I second bwaites recommendation of the locking lever on a swivel unit and would add that the leg notch is worth the cost. Lots of choices out there and few of them are inexpensive.

I use Versapods, I have mounts on all the rifles that I go afield with and just move the pod to what I am shooting that day. I got mine from Brownell's

          What about Atlas bipods?

I haven't used an Atlas in the field. In the hand they are very solid.

I have an atlas and a bobro. Both are well worth the cash. You won't be disappointed in either.

Yeah, I've heard nothing but god things about Harris bipods. I've never had the dough for one so I just have the $40 cheapo. I forget what brand, but for as little as I use mine it works fine.

I have a mix of bipods....Harris on bolt guns,Versa on AR varmint,GG&G on a Mini SASS and just aquired a Tangodown for new Grendel....Harris works great and u have lots of models to pick from... you can always find used ones at gun shows for good price( I've never bought a new one myself)...haven't used the Tangodown yet but it weighs next to nothing and folds up fairly close to the forend.... GGnG is pricey..looks and acts like it too..I flinched at $200 , but think it's worth it....all that being said the Versapod is one I've used most. It's a little loosen goosey but works very well..easy open , close , install and remove..most for the $$$$...have a Grip pod too. It's better than nothing. Makes a nice rifle stand....

I use the Sinclair Tactical/Varmint bipod, which is very functional. I wouldn't say it's as robust as a Harris though. There is a little slop, and the screws and such can easily work loose under recoil. Also, the legs are only retained by the plungers that are used for folding. That means that when you hinge the legs, you can easily just pull them off.

I'd say it's worth the money though. It has a lot of the benefits of a bridge, in a foldable bipod. It just might not be needed for something low recoil and torque though.

I'm jealous, I've only had experience with Harris bipods. I have used both the notched leg and smooth leg and for my use; didn't see much difference. YMMV. The add on swivel locker is nice.
