24" Les Baer Customs Grendel - Ideas on price

    Guys/Ladies,

I'm looking to locally sell a AR15 and I'm having an issue with pricing, so I'd like your help if you could. This is a 6.5 Grendel that belonged to a friend of mine that passed away and his wife asked me to help her sell it. As far as I can make out, it's a 24" Les Baer Custom upper. He used a Colt H-BAR Match Competition for the lower. Assuming the LPK is stock and nothing fancy...what should I sell it for with the PEPR and Leupold 4-12X 1" scope included? I have included some pics.....

    Thank you!!

Well first make sure it's a 6.5gr and secondly those are mighty fine accurate rifles. My friend had one in 5.56/223 and was in mint condition and sold it for $2,400. That was just the rifle alone.

Knowing everthing isnt as important as knowing where to find it.

The supply and demand in your neck of the woods probably has more of an effect than who made what piece/part of it.
If you can put it up with a couple of sub-moa actual shot pictures of what it does, that will raise some interest.
Maybe try it out yourself to get those pix before putting it up on the for-sale-board...

In my experience you are best to part it out. May not be an option, but selling the scope, upper and lower all separately will tend to bring more money. The Colt lower is desirable right now, to what point, not sure, but someone will want it and will pay a little more for it.

Where on the rifle does it say 6.5 Grendel?

                Thanks, Dinny

Dinny - I don't see a caliber markings anywhere. Maybe it's on the barrel under the hand guard. Not sure, I expected it to be engraved in the barrel after the gas block but nothing. I separated the lower and upper and slid a round it. It's definitely a 6.5 Grendel. Plus the magazine in it said 6.5.

Thanks for you help everyone. Yes, I feel it was a LBC 6.5 Grendel upper that he put on this lower. I do remember him showing me some 3 leaf clover groups from it.

It's probably a 264 LBC. Back in 2012 Bill Alexander explained the difference like this: "The Grendel chamber uses a 0.300" diameter neck and has a compound throat, allowing it to digest a wide variety of ammunition. It is a SAAMI standard. The 264-LBC has a tighter 0.295" diameter neck and has a conventional free bore of 0.120" length. Depending upon the version the neck length may vary and in some instances it may not allow the use of factory ammunition. The shoulder radii are also variable and may also give problems. The Grendel centers the projectile in the bore using the projectile as the reference. The LBC uses the case neck. In deference to the LBC it will frequently match the accuracy of the Grendel with specific loads."

                        Thanks, Dinny
