i tend to not worry about the ffp vs second too much the way i figure if its far enough away that i need to use a ballistically compensating reticle to hit it i probably have time to set the magnification on the highest setting, also if im shooting at something far enough away to need the reticle notches i probably want to be on high mag anyway
