Remington Outdoor Company informed RSR at the SHOT Show that they will be focusing on their core hunting and shooting brands – AAC, Barnes, Marlin and Remington. Bushmaster, DPMS, StormLake Barrels and Tapco will no longer be produced, with the exception of the Bushmaster BA50.
Bushmaster is gone, including the ACR and the full Bushmaster product line other than the .50 Cal bolt gun.
Tapco is gone (millions of SKSs and cheap AR15s sighed in relief).
StormLake Barrels is gone.
One thing many might not know is that Freedom Group came in and bought the largest manufacturer of AR15 uppers and lowers, LAR Grizzly, in 2012. LAR provided most of the forged receivers to Bushmaster, DPMS, and a laundry list of major AR15 companies up until that time. Freedom Group shuttered the doors of the company after laying everyone off, then combined DPMS and Bushmaster under control of the Remington brand name, shut down the Bushmaster facility in Maine, and moved DPMS down to Huntsville Alabama.
This was something I always suspected Remington would do in the same way they did LAR.
It will be interesting to see how the market responds to these developments.Last edited by LRRPF52; 02-18-2020, 10:35 PM.NRA Basic, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, RSO

Not like dpms had a big foot hold on the market anyways why company's like spa and Anderson and aero can steel every single product they make now and struggle to keep up with demand.

True, Colt has also backed out of the msr market. DPMS, while not a great rifle, was very affordable. Bushmaster made their name, as I understand, as being a pretty high quality rifle. The ones I saw several years ago were priced in the $700 - $800 range. Being able to get a functional rifle for less than $600 with out having to build it was important at that time. I have even helped a friend get back into shooting because of the purchase price of DPMS rifles. I know there are many strategies to getting a higher quality rifle but sometimes timing can be someones biggest obstacle.
That's the beauty of the DPMS AR-15, it provides a base to start from when families may not have very much of a budget to begin with. You could find them at Academy for about $550 plus tax, and their fun to shoot. I'd like to get everyone to enjoy going to the range, the lower budget rifles help make that happen. Just my .02

They AR15 market is flooded right now.Over-flooded to be exact. No one wants to pay high dollar for something you can get for less .You can get budget AR15 complete for $400 from several manufacturers. And if you buy uppers and lowers separately you can get them for even less.
Colt got out of the civilian AR15 market because they realized that there are not many shooters who are willing to pay an extra $600 for a little horsey on the lower reciever.
