This is not a Grendel product yet but it holds a lot of promise in my eyes. AR-10 sized barrel extension and bolt head, AR-15 carrier, thermal fit upper, integrated gas block, extended feed ramps.

Saw that as well. Wondering how the integrated extension feature holds up to bolt thrust, though 41V50 can be very strong.

Can it be case hardened? It would be a shame if the larger bolt head is only to work around a softer material and not for extra strength.

The whole barrel unit will be heat-treated and hardened of course, but it has to be done with a balance between surface hardness and core ductility, without making the surface too brittle.

It’s a very interesting process approach to barrel-making though, because it eliminates all the steps in manufacturing separate barrel extensions, gas blocks, and muzzle devices.

Reducing parts count reduces complexity and loose ends when it comes to production efficiency and harmonic resonance for accuracy, as well as no way for the gas block to come loose or leak when factoring in reliability and consistent gas system performance.

If everything works as-advertised, it’s a superior way to do things, with the trade-off being lack of muzzle device flexibility/replacement.
