Welcome to the forum Smaug from North Texas. Are civilians allowed to have an AR15 or any other semi-automatic rifle in Norway?

A civilian can buy a semi automatic approved for hunting(the goverment consider each make and model and decide if it's a hunting rifle or a sporting rifle), for instance a Sauer S303 or Browning BAR are approved for hunting and you can buy one IF you are a registered hunter. If you are not a registered hunter but a competition shooter, you can only buy a weapon approved for a specific branch witch you actual are competing in.
An AR style rifle are only approved for competition within IPSC regulation and can never be used for hunting.
