Hello, My name is Allen and I have a problem

I love guns. Guns, guns and more guns. Seriously though, I love guns.
I'm just short of 70 years old but I started shooting when I was six, bought my first gun when I was 14. Yep, bought a 22 rifle all on my own. started reloading shotshells around 19 and centerfire around 25. I guess the rest is history.
I have quite a lot of firearms but my latest purchase (except for the DD4 V7) was a Ruger American 16" in 6.5 Grendal. So here I am to listen, learn and maybe contribute.

I've read some not so good things about the Ruger here but after a bit of trigger tweeking (down from 8 pounds to just over 3) I have fired 1/2 inch 3 shot groups at 100 yds with Hornady Black factory ammo. Gonna be hard to beat for my purposes with handloads but of course, I'm going to try. That was before I put it in the chassis too. I haven't fired it yet with the chassis. having magazine issues.

    Hey Allen,

    Welcome.

I have a Ruger like that in 300blk. They are way under-rated. I did the trigger tweaking and put a can on the end. It is a way-to-fun plinker with subs, and surprisingly accurate.

    Cheers!

Welcome to the clan, aiT, from another loyal Texian! I guess the best part of being in Levelland is that it is level all the way to the north pole from there. Spent some months in Lubbock back in the 70's for TI working on a new radio. Also love Rugers, don;t have one in Grendel ( yet ) but do have several others. Have successfully gotten .117 groups with a 6mm CM with factory ammo. As one old guy to another, one of the best things about the Grendel, in any format, is that they are great to teach the grandkids with.

                Hi, all.

Just wanted to mention that I'm new here as well but I happened to find Grendel ammo very reasonable (25) at milehigh.com yesterday evening. Only bad thing was that the shipping was 25 also. I guess if a guy buy's several boxes it might be worth it or needs over 200 dollars worth of gear or whatever then the shipping is free but I reload so I really just wanted one box which of course isn't worth spending 25 to ship it. Just though id pass that along.

Greetings from the east of Texas Tech!

I think you will like it here. Provided we can find primers, we can continue our optics verification hobbies. If it helps the next generation, even better!

I put it in a Heatseeker chassis by Sharps Brothers. Cost as much as the rifle, lol
