Just started shooting with 6.5 Grendel. My son and I plan to get it ready for long range shooting. Know a 6.5 Creedmore is probably better but this is a start. Base rifle is there but plan to get a good ootic($500+), trigger and get the right hand load. Plan to learn what I can on this website.

Welcome. Yes, the Creedmoor is better at long-range. However, the recoil of the Grendel is such that I can shoot it all day long in comfort. It's a great cartridge. The best money I ever spent on the Grendel was Vol. II of the Grendel Reloading Handbook.

Welcome to the clan, Sb, from the great nation of Texas! You don't state your son's age or his experience level. IF he is new to firearms or is recoil sensitive, the Grendel is an ideal round. And, it is still viable as his capabilities increase. And, the best part is that you can have more than one! ( Grendel's that is) !
