    New Guy from NY

What's up everybody? Just recently joined the "horde" and have been looking around for a little here. Tons of info which is greatly appreciated. I am in the process of building my 6.5, just waiting for the 22" JP barrel to arrive, shipped yesterday

A little about me - shoot a lot, try to hit the range 2-3 x week, rifle, pistol.....
Load everything I own, already set up a few starting test loads for the Grendel, cant wait to try them out - thanks for the recipes btw. I live on Long Island but not a downstate yuppie, my county voted against tyranny for Governor.

Happy to post some pics when she's done next week.

Again, thanks for all the info and see you around the threads

While I can appreciate that, it sure would suck having to be lumped in with all the liberal downstate garbage.

Woops! So just cut NYC into its own district like DC then. What kinds of shooting opportunities do you have on Long Island? Any outdoor ranges?

There are 3 public outdoor ranges, one has a 50 yd range, the other 2 have 100/200 yd ranges. One has 300 yd shooting on weekends during the summer where they close a parking lot to get the extra 100 yds. They get very crowded on weekends.

yeah, the one that opens to 300 is great, kinda like the wild west. The RO's are nice and friendly, let you shoot from any position, bench, prone, whatever. The only issue there is that you do get the occasional idiot that muzzles everyone, kinda scary. I'm an NRA RSO so I pretty much keep my head on a swivel while at any range, indoor or outdoor.

I do get the opportunity quite frequently to head to upstate NY and PA for longer range firing.
