Israel and guns

If anything supports a armed populace, it is the current situation in Israel.
I am positive their socialist government kept telling the people that the IDF would protect them.
Guess not.
It is up to them as a citizenry to force their government to allow more access to firearms.

Call it the normalcy bias, mass self delusion or just plain insanity, I will never understand the unbelievable way people subject themselves to self extermination..You would think a people who were literally put into extermination camps would have understood the vital importance of personal self defense, yet only 2 percent of Israeli citizens own a firearm..
Our nation has let in millions of military aged, anti American foreigners without a second thought..Rhodesia and South Africa are good examples of once civilized, productive, thriving society's that were destroyed by leftist internal political forces..In my own town, I have seen leftist destroy the very fabric of sanity by the support of imported left wing loons that defy even the basics of common sense..
Get ready for a bumpy wild ride because it is not going to get any better.. The one ace up our sleeve is the 2ndA..

As it stands, private ownership of a firearm is restricted to people who can prove they need the protection. They are allowed a pistol and no more than fifty rounds of ammo.
Boy, their government sure protected them!
Yo -- how come I don't see our (US) CIA, DIA, and NSA directors apprenticing at a McDonalds.

As of December 2022, Israel was teh 5th safest country in the world.
The United States is ranked 20th on this list, earning an overall safety grade of C-, primarily because of a high homicide rate and the high risk of natural disasters.
Here is an interesting video from a couple of years ago on gun ownership in Israel...

Being safe is relative to the situation and moment.. Wait long enough and the most civilized safe place on Earth will become extremely dangerous..

Being safe is relative to the moment, but when it comes to the Gaza strip, political, military, and terrorist conflict has been the norm for the last 75 years, not that the region hasn't been in repeated conflicts for centuries.
I would liken it to living at the bottom of an active volcano. You are safe except when it is erupting and you know from past experience that more eruptions are coming.
Given how hard Israel has fought for the region and given the amount of conflict that has occurred right there historically, you would think security would be better, that they would want their people armed given. Apparently not.Kill a hog. Save the planet.

When I got my original CHL ( I'm on my 4th renewal ) our instructor was an ex-Secret Service guy. And, like all the rest of the instructors, he had to go thru several days of training at the DPS training center. But, one of the things he saud early on was that they were told that the State of Texas wanted to arm as many people as possible because the state knew that there weren't enough cetified LE's in the whole state to head off a full offensive or a coordinated offensive by one or more of the cartels. And it would take all hands on deck to stop 'em. We just witnessed the greatest possible example of how true that could be.

The famous liberal George Takei noted at the start of that war how 20 million American AR15s sure could be put to use over there, helping those poor Ukranian people. https://twitter.com/GeorgeTakei/stat...181318?lang=en
Of course, as several people pointed out, we have the 2nd Amendment just in case something like that happens, which is why we are not shipping all of our civilian owned AR15s to some other country.
None of these are one-offs. This is an oft-repeated lesson. Few countries seem to learn it. The governments typically fear their own people more than external threats. Ukraine had gun ownership, but he right to carry with nearly nil. They had to sign emergency declaration to let their citizens arm themselves in public against the threat of Russia and they brought out some ancient and bizarre guns in the process.Kill a hog. Save the planet.
