One is left with the impression he uses his gear regularly.

Is he hitting the gongs only 50% of the time? Fires a string of rounds as fast as he can, misses with the first two and then hits the gong when he gets his bearings. Listen for the dings when he's shooting steel.

Slow down, only hits kill; Accuracy before speed.

We tossed around a couple of possibly pertinent axioms in the LE word.

"Speed is fine, accuracy is final" and "The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss"

No, he's shooting a mix of paper and steel TGTs. If he has an occasional miss, he picks it up quickly instead of editing it out.

Probably one of the only civilian-side instructors who does this type of training for open enrollment.

Some of the most capable SOF units who like to stay under the radar have brought him in to help with CQM training.

Good luck finding another trainer who conducts this type of Own The Night CQM training, let alone one who is even half-decent at it.

When I was in, we focused a lot of our training on night, including live fire in and out of the shoot house.

I've found that most of the online discussions about the combat applications of live-fire training and weapons set-up ignore this reality, although there is a growing trend in the civilian world for more and more armed citizens to configure and train for OTN.

For most people, the barriers to entry on the equipment side are difficult to justify, although accessibility to PVS-14s and IR pointers has increased dramatically over the past decade.
