Precision Firearms Gauging Interest in Entry Level Barrel

Any Interest in us making a $250 6.5 Grendel and 223 Wylde Stainless barrel on par or better than barrels like the F and B company?

Will be sold under the Samurai Brand.

Seems to me what fires this crowd up is a $75 barrel

I would think so after this experience with a B barrel I am looking elsewhere. As long as it shoots sub moa reliably. Probably would buy a Wylde next year to replace the barrel on my M&P Sport.

$250 is a good price point imo for a Grendel, BA is about that, 285-ish?
"BCA?" -- well.. I'd not try to compare with them, to iffy for me. PF ought to be head and shoulders above, at any price point.
With all the bad ju-ju on nitrided barrels that seems like one would avoid it for now. SS works, and threaded.
        Still needs to shoot well,
        what are you thinking? 16? 18" 20? 12.5?

Hopefully they would be "in stock" and not 8-10 weeks away...

$75 is cheap, and I for one wouldn't expect any accuracy out of it.

          I'm interested Mark.

Will be needing a 12 inch sometime this winter for a build.

Guess for me it depends on how light weight the barrel would be.

Mark, in the spring I will be looking for a 20" for my Match rifle. I had been looking at the N company, but if I can score your product with a headspaced bolt, for that point, the business is yours. Btw, I sent the XO by your shop for a magazine and to scope things out, thanks for taking care of him.

I can't ever take a $75 barrel seriously. Right off the bat, you know that the minimum amount of time and effort was put into it, so the margins for error are substantially larger on barrels in that price range.

Guys, I’m not looking for nor asking Mark for a $75 barrel. My comment was in tongue in cheek and in reference to the excitement every new barrel vendor generates. Especially if they are cheap.

$75 barrels typically start out as $130 barrels and are discounted due to overproduction.

Then they become $450, $500, $550, $600 barrels as you go back and forth to the range wasting time with them trying to get them to shoot.

I don't want to worry about the barrel from the start, and I certainly don't want to go back and forth to the range with one that won't shoot.

I have no problem paying up front for that reassurance.

Well said. On the AR rifle, the expense should be barrel, glass, trigger/bolt. The heart of the system being the barrel. Why do folks try so hard to skimp on these components, when it's been reliably proven that the less expensive components come with more than a fair share of issues and frustration?

I think you're on to something here, Mark. More power to you. My friends would be grateful for a less expensive barrel they could trust to meet your already high standards. Several of whom have all but the barrel and glass waiting for a good deal here on the EE.

I've seen people do builds where they spend 2-3x on the handguard, 2x on the bolt carrier, 2-3x on the stock, compared to the barrel and optics.
