Precision Firearms is Machining 6.5 Grendel bolts.

We have started machining 6.5 Grendel Bolts in house last week. We expect the first of these to be ready to ship in about 3-4 weeks. Fully Machined from 9310 and heat treated. Will be available in Phalanx or Super Match (NiB). This completes our carrier group quality being controlled inhouse. We are also machining 5.56 bolts. Soon after we will add 6.8. Prices will stay the same but the quality will be much better.

Excellent news! Did you attempt any dimensional tweaks or build to spec? Some claim they can improve the strength of the bolt by making dimensional and design tweaks here and there, but there's often unanticipated trade-offs.

Change in plans for the time being. We are going to sub these out. After working on it for a few days we have better things to do with our 4 axis Lathe. Making bolts is not profitable with our tooling. We found a shop with a machine better suited to making these and are having them do them for us.

John: we are making them to regular specs but using 9310. So far we have not had one bolt breakage using 9310 in over 800 bolts.

I like the idea of a 6mm AR based on the Grendel over the 6.5mm, but the 6.5 might give better barrel life.
