I went with a 12.5 inch light weight profile. Figured most folks are going to want the long pipes because hornady is going to advertise it as the greatest ar15 long range cartridge ever.
I'm more interested in what it will do in a pistol length on deer and hogs. That's why I went 12.5 inch.
So it might be good to have that option as well in your barrels.

I'm thinking of starting on the short end: MONSTER 12 and MONSTER 16 in 6mmARC. My button on order has a 1:7 twist to stabilize up to 110gr 6mm at short barrel velocities at 0° and 0 ft. altitude. SAAMI is 1:7.5 so it's not THAT different, but just enough to be ideal for short 6mmARC barrels.

Yea mine's coming with a 7.8 twist, should be ok for the short range hunting bullets I want to run in it.
But a 7.5 or 7 twist would have been my preferred twist rate.

I personally prefer shorter barrels because I run cans all the time, but in this case I think I'll go maybe 20" first. I already have the 16" 6.5 Grendel for deer/antelope thumping, my interest in the 6mm ARC is mostly for LR AR fun out where the 73gr ELDs out of my Wylde start to give up the ghost. I think the ARC, being a bit smaller than the 6mmAR, is going to need every bit of barrel length I can put up with (20" is it, more is too long in an AR-15, for me).
I am interested to see what velocities folks get out of different barrel lengths. Seems like 90gr Accubonds, or 95gr BTs would be excellent deer medicine out of this cartridge.

I like Brian Litz's research and according to him there's no downside to "overstabilizing" a bullet. Main benefit is improving the long-range accuracy by keeping a bullet more stable through the transonic zone.
Possible downsides are blowing up bullets, but that's not an issue at any Grendel velocity (and certainly not in the minor difference between 1:7 and 1:7.5). Also, some think there's a velocity loss with tighter twists and, technically, there is but Litz's actual testing showed it to be something like 1.33 fps per inch of twist completely insignificant!
So, MONSTER 20 in 6mmARC is totally within the realm of possiblity.

Yeah, I'd reckon anywhere 7.0-7.7(max, maybe only 7.5) should be fine. Not a Litz but I slept at the Holiday inn express last nite LOL!

I'm very interested in the ARC, but I do want to see some cases, dies and data coming out of big red before I start ordering parts.
On a related note, I read that 6.5 Staball is a bit too slow to be useful in the 6.5 Grendel, I wonder if it might work well in a 6mm Grendel/ARC.

I'd agree on the twist, no reason to ride the line on stability, a 7 twist should easily handle any bullet you can stuff in there.

Id be up for a couple of 1/7 16ers myself. Favoring a lighter profile/contour would be plus for me as well.

Not that I've been able to find, and at this point, the only evidence pointing to Hornady as the company in question is the naming convention, the bullet weight in the SAAMI drawing and a solitary picture posted up with no explanation that seems to show a cartridge with a Hornady 6mm ARC headstamp. It seems likely that it's Hornady behind the standardization, but nothing definitive has come out.... Maybe introduction was planned for the now-cancelled NRA meeting?
