The Serbian videos I’d seen called their test cartridge 6.5 Grendel but was also described as 6.5x39. The pictures I saw of the cartridge appeared to be PPU 6.5 Grendel cartridge and definitely not a necked down 7.62x39 cartridge. Honestly with the release of M-855A1 5.56 I think this bullet has given the 5.56 a lot better terminal performance at distance plus has enhanced the barrier penetration. With the US combined arms I think 5.56 is still a top performing military cartridge.
Hard to argue against carrying more ammo for the same weight. In a civilian or LE enviroment I don’t feel the weight consideration is as critical as it is for the military.
