I just bought the Boyd Pro Varmint for my Tikka TX1 and I'm disappointed. I had planned to pillar and bed it to begin with but Boyd didn't leave me enough wood to get a good fit and finish on the trigger plate. When I'm done, it will protrude below the stock at least an 1\8". Big deal, maybe not but when I'm done the Boyd stock is not going to add any value to this rifle.
I also agree with the chunky feel in the grip area. I'll be taking a rasp to it to improve the trigger feel.
To be fair I ordered the Boyd because it's cheap and I expected to do the extra work to bring it up to par, if you're looking for a project buy the Boyd but looking at it now I'm thinking in the long run spend the extra money. Buy once cry once.
