Although they have roughly the same burn rate, the IMR 4895 and Hodgdon H4895 powders are very different. Hodgdon does not actually make powder, they just own several brand names and a distribution system. The IMR 4895 is a single-base powder made by General Dynamics in Canada. H4895 is made by Thales in Australia, where it is known as AR2206H. A number of their other powders related to Hodgdon, like LVR,CFE, and Winchester Ball Powders are made by St. Marks Powder in Florida. St. Marks is also owned by General Dynamics.
