Only one group, but it looks like some of the earlier loads show more promise, and your comment about brass swipes suggest caution with the top load...

You'll probably never see the difference in practical field performance from the last 40-50 fps. Don't know which barrel you have, but your goal looks on the high side... and probably too high when the temperature gets up in the 90's.

This is the 6.5 Grendel forum, not the 6.5 Creedmoor forum.........

I push 120 Scenars L's at 2520 out of my 18" Satern/Stoner with 30.6 grains of CFE and GM205MAR and that load frankly makes me pause since it is an average speed barrel. I wouldn't use that load of I wasn't trying to shoot the barrel out.
          Let's go Brandon!

I don’t plan to go any higher than what I loaded and shot today - I have a 6.5 Creedmoor for faster and heavier loads.

This was simply a test of a bullet / Powder / primer combo shooting for a lofty goal - didn’t make it and that’s okay - I have a 6.5 Creedmoor to satisfy the faster or heavier 6.5mm thirst for speed.

Try .2 gr increments. You probably passed a velocity node somewhere in the upper 2400s to low 2500s.

              30.7 - 31.2
              Sticks

              Catchy sig line here.

No, if this was the Creedmoor forum we would already be talking about neck tension and thousand dollar scales that measure down to the nearest particle of powder...

You forgot about molecular density and controlling for ambient humidity of the powder, case, bullet as well as taking the moon position into account for gravitational fluctuations.

And Coriolis effect, and primer weight, and bright sunbeams and cosmic rays, moonbeams and spiderwebs...

outbreaker- you forgot about the temp. of your dies while loading, it can change the neck tension. No joke

Hunt TX- you are running a tic hot. The speeds you want are good in 24' tube. An 18 " tube should be about 2500-2540. And that is up there... I usually saw 2460-2480

                          Which bullet ?

                            Hi Sneaky -

120 grain Sierra Pro Hunter , soft point flat base bullet.

I decided against loading anymore of these, info posted for the benefit of the Horde.

Next bullet trials attempting for 2520 FPS will be done with powders other than CFE223 based on performance yielded on this test.

Thanks and good seeing you pop in here

Good to see you on here also. Been a while..

The Sierra was the first choice when I started loading for the Grrr, awesome accuracy. Find the accuracy node on these , on game performance stays the same .

Check, Tac, BLC-2, and AR comp.

Did you ever try the bullets I sent a while back?
