You might want to go with five shot groups, a little more statistical relevance.
Appreciate the data. What primer?Last edited by Mad Charlie; 08-30-2019, 02:00 AM.

Thank you for the info. Those who take the time and effort to post should be applauded!
Not sure if this is the right spot to add info but this is my first loads with 27.8 of Power pro varmint and 120 Speer Gold dot, a proven accurate load for me with the 120 Sierra Game King
Speer 120 Gold Dot, PPV 27.8, CCI 450, Hornady brass 24 inch barrel
COAL Velocity Group Size Average Velocity
2.280 2361, 2387, 2366, 2364, 2358 SD 11.47: 5=2.655 4=1.520 ave 2367
2.270 2378, 2364, 2357, 2364, 2366 SD 7.62 : 3.445 ave 2365
2.260 2361, 2376, 2366, 2378 SD 8.09 : 4.465 ave 2370
2.280 2372, 2363, 2382, 2382 SD 9.14 : 3.380 ave 2375
I'm not impressed yet with the Gold Dot. I am getting sub moa 5 shot groups with the 120 Sierra Pro Hunter using PPV and Win 748.

After getting used to how my rifle performs with different loads I'm seeing a pattern (pun not intended)
If a few five shot groups are terrible, say 3 moa it's extremely likely that bullet with any combination of powder and seating depth won't make me happy.
If a few five shot groups produce at least one nice group then that bullet is worth further testing and likely will make me happy in the accuracy department.
There should be a reliable formalized method to rule in or out bullets in the least amount of rounds. I would welcome suggestions!

I welcome all suggestions as I am relatively new to reloading. I was hoping I could get the gold dots to shoot because they are relatively cheap and seem like they would perform well on white tail this fall. I would be very happy with sub moa 5 shot groups near 2500fps.

I get sub moa with 28gr 8208 or 27gr ARC and GM205MAR primers. No vel. #'s yet. This is from my 18" Satern/Liberty bbl. Still working up with the ARC. No issues at all so far.
I would also highly recommend 450's or Rem 7-1/2's with ball powders, might tighten up your groups and give you a little more speed. You will want to drop your charge a little and work up again of course.

I continued to work up some with the 2000MR. Gave 1 load a try at 250yds, shot around 1 MOA group at just over 2500fps with 31.7 grains of the 2000 MR. Going to use this this fall for white tail deer. This is pretty much the max hunting distance we will use. Hopefully I can post an update this fall with some deer down with it.

Wow do people just throw darts at a wall with random numbers written on it to use for reloading charges?
