I worked up some loads with LVR and 123 gr SST's , the velocities i am getting seem high for the charge weight The gun is an AR with a 20" Core15 Barrel I honestly don't know what chamber they use but it is a nitrided 5R 1:8 barrel. All of my loads where loaded to OAL of 2.250, used Federal AR Match primers, new starline brass trimmed to 1.510, and crimped with a Lee factory crimp die and the temp when shooting was 82. I started at 29.0gr and got avg 5 shot velocity of 2479fps with a grp of 1.715", my best load was 29.5gr avg velocity of 2529fps and a grp of .88 at 30.0gr I was getting 2564fps with a 2.10 grp at 30.6 I was at 2577fps with a 1.56 grp and at 30.8gr I was at 2596fps with a 2.1" grp at 31.0 I was at 2613 with a 1.82" grp I didn't see much pressure signs until the last 2 loads when I started getting ejector marks. What I'm seeing is these velocities are 100fps higher than what they should be so I thought my chrono was wrong, I tried 5 shots of Hornady black 123gr ELDs and got an avg of 2477. What do y'all think is causing the higher than expected velocities.

LVR is my #1 go to powder for the Grendel, been running it for almost ten years now. I run 31.8 under a 123grn bullet. 30.8 under a 130grn ELD. Phenomenal powder for the Grendel.

LVR is an odd powder that sometimes gives higher than expected velocities. It magically gives almost 200 fps higher velocity in the 30-30 versus traditional powders. It seems hit-or-miss (pun intended) with other cartridges.

                In my 20in barrel
                factory PPU 120gr 2420fps
handloaded PPU 120 with LVR 2613fps

13in barrel using the same factory PPU 120 2130 fps
Handloaded PPU 120 averaged 2399fps with LVR.
