    Load work on my Grendel

Hey guys, finally back from a long hiatus of shooting and reloading due to life.
Anyways, I purchased a 12" and an 18" group buy barrel quite a while. I did shoot the 12" with some handloads. Shot terrible, but probably because it was the first rounds on that barrel and the loads were not really for it. anyways:
Did some load development this weekend at the range.
This is with the 18" Group buy barrel and bolt.

    Temp: 62deg F, Humidity: 93% and Baro: 30.02
Speeds were from a Magnetospeed Sporter
No crimp on any of these loads. Shoudl I add a slight crimp?

    28.2gr of AR-COMP

    31.2gr of CFE223
    Hornady 123GR SST at 2.245"
    AVG 2419
    SD 11
    ES 30
Group 1.75" (seems accuracy started to come back, but this was starting to max out and did not want to go higher)

Any suggestions on how to tighten up the CFE loads? Longer or shorter OAL?

I believe I will no longer use CFE223. Looks like the first two are the way to go. Funny how the heavier bullet takes a heavier charge, but as you can see on the target (top two targets) the did great except for the flyer. ( I actually know I pulled those) Sucks because I have a lot of CFE223. I guess CFE for my 556 AR plinking round.

You can push the COL out longer if your mags will allow it and see if that helps with the CFE223/123gr SST loads.

Also, try double seating with a half-stroke, rotate the case, and do the final stroke when seating bullets.

When you increase the COL, it will require a little more propellant to reach the same speeds.

It just may be that your barrel does not like the Hornady 123 SST bullet. Neither of my rifles with different make barrels will shoot this bullet very accurately no matter what powder or load you use and it shot the factory ammo the worst. Both of my rifles shoot the 120 Sierra Pro Hunter and Speer Gold Dot supper accurately and both are good deer size game bullets. I like the Gold Dot the best.

Fine tune the group size (barrel harmonics/timing) with bullet seating depth.

Ok. Going to try a couple of 31.2 CFE223 at make the length 2.26 or max out the mag length.
Per the top right target, it seems the barrel likes the 123SST with ARCOMP.
What is another good hunting round that is known to be a good shooter in these barrels with ARCOMP or CFE223?

Will be trying this method to try and come up with a better shooting round. Thank you!!
