Bob, what is the jump to lands - when loaded @ 2.250 in your chamber? Does your Satern have the -compound chamber- as an AA bbl. does?

Hey I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though some times I wonder.

Grendellizing predators as of the fall of 2012.

Were both of those groups shot with the Magnetospeed attached to the barrel? That's an insane jump into an accuracy node if I ever saw one!

They touch at 2.287 so .037" jump. Yes compound throat on this one. I have others that are standard lead.

quick 123gr SST range report.... (sorry, not very scientific)- AA 19.5'' hunter upper, measured with oal gauge (used 3 diff. bullets) average to lands= 2.252'', loaded up 5 rounds in 2x AA brass, CCI 450's, loaded to 2.242'' col ,
31.0gr of CFE 223. about 23 degrees, with 20mph gusting wind and freezing fingers! (excuses excuses) from bench, inbetween buddies sighting in new rifles.... 100 yards, 4 shots, right at 3/4 moa pulled 5th shot to 1 1/2 moa. will have to work more on this when its not too cold! (might be a while). Just as a reference I load 123gr Amaxes to 2.248'' col.

This one could have been better but I was rushed and had to sort of rapid fire as the range officer was nice enough to let me shoot this last one before he called the range cold. There was one at the bottom was when I got the tap to stop. 0_o

Some quick measurements from my 18" AA Barrel. It is the standard barrel from several years ago in 18", not sure of maker.

Measured with comp: 1.666-1.668 (these are touching the rifling)
COL: 2.238-2.240 (touching, first test reloads are loaded at 2.230 or 1.58 on comp)

So according to others, my chamber is rather short. It is a compound throat, or at least should be from AA. If it gets in the 20's this weekend, I'll try and post some groups and velocities.

About the SST. Mine were all within .001 for length with comparator, I thought that was very good. Also, all that I weighed were between 122.9 and 123. Very good I thought. I did not measure and weigh all, it was getting boring and in a self loading rifle. It should be good enough.

That's what I was thinking... Looks like these bullets might be a little sensitive.
