If piercing in two different brands of factory ammunition discounts the factory, then leaving ammo in direct sunlight on a hot day is another possibility. Restricting bullet release with a short chamber neck or tight throat will also do it. Or, out of spec firing pin. And/or firing pin hole.

Again, this has nothing to do with the gas system and its parts.

Lazy, interesting your additional note on the firing pin tip wear. I've pierced primers while supercharging 223 to reach 1,000yds. It starts about 25K lbs over SAAMI. This looks like the same including the cratering. PTG sells Rem bolts with optional finer 0.062" tips (the standard is 0.075"), and narrower pin holes to match. Less clearance between the pin and the hole supports the primer at higher pressures. Also, all the 223 F Class shooters I know use 450 primers with their 0.025" thick cups. So, if the firing pin including its protrusion is in spec it could still be related, if the bolt's firing pin hole is too big and not supporting the primer.

The PPU primers look like small rifle primers to me as they seem to be the same size as the Hornady SRP brass. The recalled PPU ammo all had large rifle primers. Might be a combination of factors like short chamber, hot ambient temperatures or an out of spec firing pin, firing pin hole. The bolt face and firing pin might have out of spec firing pin protrusion as mentioned before.

LRR the Ammo is a recent purchase. I contacted PPU and the gentleman there verified it was a recent Lot. Both times I was under cover, no direct sunlight. Ambient temperature was 90 degrees out. I'm just gonna follow the advise I have been given here and send it back to BCA. Everyone here agrees that the changes I have made shouldn't effect the gun so I'm not gonna invest alot of time in it. Gonna purchase anther upper and install a Faxon barrel and bolt and retry with a better product and if they can fix the issue with this one then I will use it as backup.

What barrel lengths are you looking at?

LRR, Im looking at the 16" gunner. I want the shorter barrel which makes it easier when I need to bring it up in the RZR. Anything longer would be a nuisance. I thought about a 12" but dont want to screw with the SBR regulations. The build below is what I'm currently having issues with.

Where we at with pistol braces these days? Last I heard atf was eating dog poop in court. Might be an option if sbr is out of the question, or if atf tries this kind of funny business again, a way to sbr without the wait or fees... just plan for it and execute as such to weaponize their policies against them, not as a compromise to cave in.

Limbo. With some courts saying and doing one thing and others doing other. ATF is effectively not enforcing anything on the topic yet, and no FFL or gun dealer is willing to transfer a firearm with an armbrace on it right now, either. Where will it land? who knows - decent odds ATF will win, IMHO. I'd love to see them not. I wouldn't really bank on being able to purchase or build a new 12" option with an armbrace on it as being 100% kosher long term right now. But I wouldn't really worry a lot if you already have a pre-existing one, as basically what's really happening is they are casually just being grandfathered anyway.... for now. .. mostly.

Just putting this out there. A while ago I chronographed some PPU 180gr factory ammo from my 308Win. Average over 5 were 2650fps, all above at least 2590fps (that is 30-06 performance for those that don't readily know the figures, and way too hot for comfort). It was not a particularly hot day. I know this doesn't answer OP's question, as he had that across more brands of ammo. But just saying, PPU can be hot.

                                "PPU can be hot."

That be true! I have an old Mauser K98 that has an almost pristine barrel on it. When I first got it, the only ammo I had for it were my hand loads made from 30-06 brass. I could have bought surplus ammo with corrosive primers but I didn't like that idea so reloading was my only option at that time. One day, in a LGS, I saw some PPU 8mm Mauser ammo on the shelf so I bought a couple of boxes. PPU 8mm Mauser ammo has 196gr bullets. I figured their recoil might be stout but I wasn't prepared for the beating I took shootin' that stuff. I thought I was shootin' a .458 Win Mag! Kicked the crap outta me!
I refuse to be victimized by notions of virtuous behavior.
