Sorry rather abrupt on this and I will take the time to explain how the chambers work and why we went the way we did.

Give me a little time to draft something and I will get it posted.

Regarding a bolt action, quite honestly the Grendel chamber is not the place to start if you are chasing the Benchrest bug. It is too much of a compromise and does not get the best from the cartridge if the requirement to run in full auto is removed.

    Bill,

How about semi-auto? Can we assume that a .295 neck will work?

      Not pertinent.

        Billy Boy,

That's very rude. What was so objectionable in what I wrote? You should take three breaths and relax.

          Mr. Murphy,

No one has called me Billy in decades. Second, you should note that I also deleted my post, to which you responded. Neither was pertinent to the thread, and once I realized it, I deleted both.

As for taking three breaths and relaxing, it would be good advice to you as well, as you have been carrying the "which chamber is this" banner for the better part of a year now.

          Good luck and good shooting!

All right so I picked up my savage action and I fially found a 7.62x39 bolt head for it, just getting ready to figure out which barrel mfg. to use. I know there's got it be some input here so lets have it.

Good, Thanks Randy, He'll thread a barrel for a Savage?...of course you know I may need a WCI brake Right.
The cool part so far is I can get the rounds to fit and feed in an AI 223 plastic mag.

You might also want to consider Short Action Customs for chambering.

It will really be a personal preference, many guys are using a 1:9 twist on 24" bbl with great results.

1:8.75 will not be wrong either considering you are going to stick to that bullet.

Warped advice is good. If I was going to ONLY use 123 grain bullets, I would probably even go 1:8 for a 24 or 28 inch barrel.

I don't think I'm going to shoot anything lighter than the 123's but if I step up a bit you think a 1;9 would turn better on a heavier bullet?

Heavier bullets generally like faster twists, so 1:8 would be better than 1:9 for 129/130 grain bullets.

So what do you think on rifling 3 grove 4 grove or polygonal?
