Did you buy the barrel action and build from there or the whole rifle?
I got the barrel/action from Brownells, had my GS do the threading. Put a Voodoo Innovations MB on it. Boyds pro varmint stock. Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 (older model not the new ones).

Would have been nice if Ruger had come out with theirs earlier, I might just have gone for that one instead. But the Howa is doing fine. Only downside to the Howa (and this could happen to any barrel) is that it doesn't seem to shoot any factory loads very well, less than 1.0" (even 1.25 in a pinch would be ok...); wait it does do the Federal AE-tnt 90's.
But handloads it does several quite well; I am the limiting factor but can get below 1.0"/100 yd (when I don't stonehendge 'em hahaha!) and nice low SD's for 100 Eldm, 90 tnt, 123 sst, 130 ABs, 110 Controlled Chaos...
Surprising that your Howa is not shooting Factory that well

The Horde and the three ladies are shooting sub MOA (avg .76) - occasionally a ragged hole with Hornady American Gunner, and I was able to get sub MOA with 123 Black during break in and MV checking. My Howa that I picked up off another member shoots .5s, and ragged holes with the Moscow Match 123 ELDs.

The Eldest Daughter / Ruby - She Stonehenged one

The Youngest Daughter / Wolf - The stray on the left is from the Brother/Uncle. Wrong Target.

        Catchy sig line here.

Yeah, I know. I wish it were different too. But like I said, it does well for me with several hand loads. If I need to do factory ammo I have the other 2 (ARs) to choose from. Maybe down the road it will shoot factory better... (sigh).
If I run into some spare change I might just get a ruger too, and tweak it/new stock, etc... but I have other projects right now I'm pursuing.

GF, did you bed the barreled action in the Boyd’s? If not that could help. Just a thought

When the mags wouldn't feed, I had my GS do some inletting on it and also ensure the barrel channel was free but with the plastic bottom stuff he didn't feel bedding was exactly called for... I was already into this a few $$$ so I haven't pursued it. Maybe someday. Good comment, however.

Very very nice..... exactly what I would want done except for an adjustable check rest.
I have several cans too so I bet it would be sweet suppressed.
Now, I am leaning towards the Howa hahaha.

There are a couple of kydex adjustables out there that you can add, for those with a drill press or ability to drill 2 quality holes in the stock...
Or Boyds has an "at-one" stock that is adjustable. That came after I had already ordered this one.

Boyd's will make any stock with an adjustable cheek for an added price. I have done 3 or 4 thru them now.

actually now that you mention it, I remember seeing that.
My apologies to OP btw, didn't mean to hijack over to a howa discussion.
I do welcome Ruger to the Grendel horde!
May it sell bunches and shoot straight!

I got the 12oz jard installed. HOLY CRAP! It feels like a 6oz trigger. Insane. Totally worth the money.

Legitimate questions, not trying to be a sarcastic: why do you have a muzzle brake? I'm not against them, as some people vehemently seem to be, I have one on my .30-06, which makes it very pleasant to shoot, especially off the bench during load development. Does it allow you to spot your shots better? Or maybe it helps with the cumulative recoil fatigue factor during extended shooting sessions?

Thanks in advance for satisfying my curiosity.

Hi Dal357, welcome to the friendly confines of the glorious horde!

It does allow me to see my shots better. Helps me with recoil/barrel control. Let's face it, I'm in favor of pretty much anything that helps me shoot a bit better! I need all the help I can get. I get to shoot quite a bit, 3 or 4x per week, sometimes more.
Even in the woods I have ear muffs (electronic) on, so I don't mind the "blast", which isn't much anyway outdoors... but it does help me out.
