I've asked this hundreds of times and have never gotten a satisfactory answer. Most people claim it's the number of applicants but I can't see that as a factor. When I buy firearms it takes me longer to fill out the paperwork than it does for my background check to be approved. No way are there anywhere near as many people buying cans than firearms. Not even close.
I think the wait time is built in to the program in an effort to deter people from buying suppressors. Would love to hear someone with inside knowledge of the process to weigh in on this.

@grayfox was this an existing trust or new one like a kiosk one-shot?

this is a new trust, I used a Virginia attorney to set it up. Very simple smooth process. Also expandable, unlike the 1-shots (as I understand them). Economical too.

The new Eforms is great if you have a Form 1

            Filed 4/5/19
Prints mailed 4/16/19 (Did not receive a cover sheet, thus these were delayed)
            Approved 5/2/19

That's a bunch of bull! I just got one that took 14 months from check cash! Form 4 trust. 14 months! I feel like they get misplaced or shuffled and don't follow a very clean FIFO system.

I believe so. You have to complete the 5320.23 (responsible person questionnaire), scan it and submit with the Form 1.

Suppressor forms submitted 12/23/2018...check cashed before New Years (12/28/2018)...hoping for 9 months...be a cool 60th birthday present!

Other forums are saying 6 to 8 months...

I just purchased my first from local dealer. They were clear that Trusts were running longer than Individual for approval.
Dealer said it would be a year at best before I get approval.

Tax stamp arrived at dealer today 6/13/20. Just shy of 14 months.

At least they were honest with you. Mine was 14 months from check cash via trust. Got it last month so the Gov shutdown had some impact.

My trust was 9 mos. The shutdown was inside of that. Idk why some are sooner and some later. Would be nice to have some insight into any speed/slowdown factors...
