If you don't reload sell the brass to someone on here.

    Glad you got it working!

Good catch because I did notice the deflector was slightly scratched. I also have a AR in 223 and have never noticed the deflector marred like this and wondered why my 6.5 had these marks. I'm keeping all my brass and I do have reloading equipment but I don't know how to use it yet. That's my next hobby sometime this winter.

You can turn the screw in on the adjustable gas block per instructions which should reduce/eliminate that.

Yeah, that's a characteristic of the Grendel case, the shape and weight distribution tend to make it do that.

As Glane says, adjust your gas block, if you have an adjustable, padding the deflector helps too. Preventing that flattening will increase your case life.

If you shoot matches, sometimes that little modification is not allowed, but Velcro is cheap, you can replace it after the match.

Another thing you can do is throw an old tee shirt over the receiver. It's a great brass catcher and puts your brass in a nice little pile right beside the gun. It pads the brass and prevents annoying the shooter in the lane to your right.

.062 waaaaaaay too small. Try something more along the lines of .085 for starters.
