Another Ruby Ridge in the making?

Anybody in that area have local information on this? I haven't seen much from the media on this. Do we need to load up and head out west for a showdown?

There's a facebook group "Stand with the Bundys" if anyone is interested.

      Not those Bundys.

On the outside it looks like the rancher is in the wrong. I implore you to dig a little deeper. It's an instance of the feds staking claim to state landing and regulating the people off of it, at least the people they deem unworthy.

Totally different situation. Waco was about protecting those children in the compound from their own parents. This time It's for the turtles. They will be more careful. Don't need any dead turtles on the front page of the New York Times now do they?

Actually the Waco disaster was about a $200 gun tax violation they never proved was violated. They destroyed the evidence before an independent company hired by congress could verify it. Protecting children is a local law enforcement issue, not federal. Same as Ruby ridge.

            Yes, I know that.
My statement was a commentary on what the gov uses for justification and how the general public reacts to them doing so.

Cliven Bundy believes big government is trying to sabotage his plans to one day hand over the ranch’s reins to his son by stripping Bundy of land-use rights his family spent a century earning.

Bundy believes big government is trying to sabotage his plans to one day hand over the ranch’s reins to his son by stripping Bundy of land-use rights his family spent a century earning. He says overregulation has already driven scores of fellow ranchers out of business in sprawling Clark County, leaving him as the last man standing.

For two decades, Bundy has waged a one-man range war with federal officials over his cattle’s grazing on 150 square miles of scrub desert overseen by the Bureau of Land Management. Since 1993, he’s refused to pay BLM grazing fees. He claims he “fired the BLM,” vowing not to give one dime to an agency that’s plotting his demise. The back fees exceed $300,000, he said.

Now a showdown looms, one with a hint of possible violence.
Officials say Bundy and his son are illegally running cattle in the 500,000-acre Gold Butte area, a habitat of the protected desert tortoise. In July, U.S. District Court Judge Lloyd George ruled that if Bundy did not remove his cattle by Aug. 23, they could be seized by the BLM.

I'm literally on the phone with Bunkerville Constable office right now, and learning a lot about this BS.

They said the Feds have removed most of the tortoises, and since they don't know how to take care of them, they euthanize them.

The BLM has shut down their traditional Boy Scout Camp Sites, historic camping areas, and Bunkerville actually owns the area, not BLM. Bundy was making payments until the payments started being sent back to him from Bunkerville Township. This is when BLM claims he owes back payments.

Bunkerville has no Law Enforcement, and since they fall within Clark County (Vegas) they are beholden to the mafia Sheriff from Sin City. It's the same time-old tale of corrupt politicians screwing over the locals, and this is the last guy left.

This issue has the meddling from Harry Reid and Sherry Berkley in it.

Cliven Bundy’s ranch invaded by federal agencies in dispute over public land

The BLM said they took Dave Bundy into custody following his “failure to comply with multiple requests by BLM law enforcement to leave the temporary closure area on public lands.”

Carol Bundy said five officials took Dave and “threw him on the ground.”

“One put his knee on his head, the other put his boot on his head and pushed him into the gravel,” she said. “He’s got quite a bruised head. Just bruised him up pretty good.”

Environmentalists are praising the government’s forceful actions, which are being taken to protect the “desert tortoise.”

“We’re heartened and thankful that the agencies are finally living up to their stewardship duty,” said Rob Mrowka, a Nevada-based senior scientist with the Center for Biological Diversity. “The Gold Butte area has been officially designated as critical habitat for threatened tortoises—meaning the area is essential to their long-term survival as a species.”

The BLM has declared most of the land off the roads as "off limits", and harasses local residents who have enjoyed the area for over a century.

If you pull off the side of the road, for example, you can be arrested and physically injured at the whim of uniformed persons.

Bundy is basically saying, "We've been here since the 1800's, we don't recognize your authority to regulate the land on which cattle graze."

BLM and the desert tortoise advocates are saying, "But you complied for so many years, and then you stopped. We've beaten you in court, now comply or have your cattle confiscated (oh, BTW, your cattle are State property anyway since they aren't branded)."

Why did they start sending the payments back?

They wanted him off the land. If they could prove he wasn't paying that could evict him.
